The 4400 Season 2 Finale – Mommy’s Bosses

The 4400The 4400 just closed its second season with an excellent last episode. “Mommy’s Bosses” is a total cliffhanger that brings up more questions than answers and leaves us craving for season three. A long wait until Summer 2006.

The first season only consists of 6 (very intense) episodes followed by a 13 episodes spanning second season. The series evolves around 4400 people who mysteriously disappeared at different times without trace for a long period of time and are all suddenly returned in a great ball of light in a remote place near a lake. For them it is as if no time has passed at all while in fact they have been away for years. Some return to their lives they had and others are trying to pick up the pieces they left behind.

They all are changed and each 4400 possesses different special powers. To what purpose or by whom they were changed or from where or when they came is a mystery the government is determined to solve. I stumbled across this little jewel by mere accident and can recommed it to any SF fan.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (2005)

The Hitchhiker\The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a “trilogy in five parts” and cannot possibly reviewed accurately without a towel wrapped around your waist. If I lost you already then this movie is not for you. You will find it blatantly stupid, utterly illogical and matching the absurdity of Vogon poetry. In the less improbable than probable case however of being a fan of Douglas Adam’s “trilogy”, you will most certainly be able to enjoy this movie as a whole or at least in (some, maybe 5) parts. That doesn’t make it a great movie but at least it can be viewed as a tribute to a man who left us with an answer without question and even though Arthur and his crewmates will find the restaurant at the end of the universe it is even more improbable if we get to see any of this ever. Maybe it’s for the best. So long and thanks for the fish!

Sahara (2005)

Sahara (2005)Sahara is a straightforward action movie featuring shallow characters and a minimum amount of plot. Some might argue that there is enough plot to go around for the average movie goer but I beg to differ. Guy searches for Civil War tankship. Woman discovers a plague. They meet. Plot lines merge and coincidentially are solved eventually. And they lived happily ever after, including a blue lagoon kiss scene.

The acting of the two male protagonists was mainly comical, or at least trying to be and thus alienating them from the action. The action itself is sparse and the movie drags along and does little to entertain the viewer. There are some very nice landscape scenes and sunsets in the desert and what else? Penélope Cruz? Nothing worth mentioning. An average action movie.

Canon Ixus 750

Gadget Alert! I almost bought the Ixus 700 (Powershot SD 500) the other day when a friend brought it to my attention that Canon is about to release the 750 (SD550). The difference? The display! It finally has a decent sized display with a wide viewing angle plus you get a grid option for aligning your photo stitches plus a galore of other features like the zoom ability while in video mode! So if you think about getting an Ixus700, don’t! The Ixus 750 (SD 550) comes in 2 colors with bigger display (2.5″ instead of 2″) at the same price. I can’t resist. I must go get one.
