I cannot believe the SciFi had announce Battlestar Galactica Third Season Renewal before they did with SG1 and Atlantis. That is awesome. I cannot wait until January to see the rest of the second half of the second season of Battlestar Galactica. This will be one hell of an opening for the second half.

[...] I introduced my wife to the new Battlestar Galactica with Season 2, Episode 10 Pegasus last night (let’s not discuss how I obtained it here in Australia). She’s hooked. But now we suffer the US Summer hiatus until it returns in January. Others are suffering too (here and here). BSG has been great all season so far. The grittiness, the realism of the characters with all their flaws and foibles. It’s less an SF series and more simply drama in an SF setting. For that, I love what’s being done with it. The makers and cast fully deserve the third season they’ve just signed for. Season 3 in June 2006! Oh joy! Regarding January, I was refering to the second half of Season 2 though and thanks for pointing that out! As with Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, those shows are on a midseason break at the moment.

However a third season is handled, it seems obvious that it will yield new and exciting results. Season two, which is about seven episodes in at this point, has taken just this long to resolve the finale from season one. Moore says that depending on where the show is at the end of year two (the second half of the season debuts in January), you may see a similar method of resolution applied in year three – or perhaps not. It all depends on how things break down in the writers’ room, where stories and characters can change at any time. Take this year’s season premiere, for example, which ended up quite different from the original story that was planned.

season 3 arriving in 2006 june, this was just a season 2 midseason finale, the full season 2 will be 20 episodes long
