Wedding Crashers (2005)

Wedding Crashers (2005)Wedding Crashers are people who go to weddings uninvited and help themselves to free food and drink and… women as this Hollywood definition of the term shows us. They do so in a profoundly elaborate manner with rules and code and highly successful, too.

Hilarious as it may be for the two middle aged men (and the viewer), it is not fulfilling for them and slowly and gradually they realize this. And lo and behold – big surprise – they meet their “soulmates” while crashing a wedding. The movie centers around this one “special” wedding and delivers puns and jokes like there’s no tomorrow.

Crazy dialogue, even rape is subject to ridicule in a “Basic Instinct” meets “The Accused” like way and even funerals aren’t spared a proper crashing. It’s a good laugh all through and light entertainment despite the happy schmaltzy ending. Simply put, it’s hilarious.

Muppets’ Wizard of Oz (2005)

Pepe touched the nipplesBeing a Muppet fan, I watched the Muppets’ Wizard of Oz version hoping for the best expecting the worst. The result was somewhere in the middle. They really should have avoided CGI, esp. such incredibly crappy one as we get to see here. The only thing… err prawn that saves this movie is Pepe (Bill Barretta). He is hilarious, esp. the “nipples” scene is great.
The “Behind the scenes” also features him interviewing the cast and is a real treat, esp. his interview with Quentin Farentino… uh… I mean Tarantino who also has a small appearance in the movie (as himself).

MirrorMask Trailer

Another movie to put on my “to watch” list! MirrorMask from Neil Gaiman! Check out the trailer, cool stuff. The Jim Henson Company (Dark Crystal, Labyrinth) treats us this time with a creepy 21st century Wizard of Oz like tale of a young girl stuck in a fantasyland full with magic and bizarre creatures where kingdoms need to be saved and a certain special mask needs to be found.

Serenity HD Trailer

“I aim to misbehave…”

River Tam

There’s a new high definition trailer out on http://www.serenitymovie.com! The above scene shows the “might unpredictable” River Tam and she will do some serious ass kicking in the upcoming totally cool SciFi flic “Serenity” yessir! I can’t wait to see the movie on big screen (Sept. 30th). It will also wrap up the excellent but unfortunately prematurely cancelled SciFi show “Firefly” by Joss Whedon. If you don’t know it and like SciFi with a twist, be sure to check it out! It’s well worth it! And the “Alliance” are the bad guys! If you have seen the series then I guess you are now shivering with antici… pation!

Birth (2004)

Birth (2004)Anna (Nicole Kidman) becomes convinced that a 10 year old boy is the reincarnation of her dead husband. The viewers of “Birth” on the other hand become convinced that the main characters are rich posh bastards who have a black woman as maid and rather should spend some money on a shrink for her delusional daughter. Never once in the whole movie do we get to believe in the reincarnation mostly because we are shown how the boy gets to know what he knows (love letters for the win).
Following some threads on imdb it seems some still believe he truly is her reincarnated husband because of the birth scene in the beginning and because of the dirty hands bathroom “don’t tell Anna” scene and lastly because he knew where Sean died.
